Salary

In the 2017-18 school year, the starting salary for a certified teacher with no prior teaching experience was $49,050. MISD teachers can earn more for holding advanced degrees, having more years of experience, or taking on additional responsibilities.

Insurance 

Our teachers receive free health insurance, as well as the option to enroll in additional insurance programs for dental, supplemental life, disability, catastrophic illness, and long-term care.

Advanced Degrees

As an MISD teacher, you’ll have online access to a range of university programs through which you can earn an advanced degree.

Housing

There are a limited number of homes available for lease by MISD employees.  

Preschool

MISD teachers are also eligible to enroll their children in Learning for Everyone at Preschool (LEAP), the district’s discounted preschool program.
